Considered and edible species in Vietnam and Japan and used as food for seaweed salads in China. In
Philippines and Malaysia, fresh collected seaweeds are washed, dried, and then boiled with sugar. B. gelatinus is used for making jellies and cakes in Vietnam. Is also utilized in Indonesia for making vegetable soup with coconut milk.
