A hot drink called “Atole” is prepared with this alga, made from dried seaweed boiled water to release their phycocolloids; later added to evaporated milk and vanilla. Other local communities prepare this drink with coconut milk. G. crassissima is also used in the preparation of soups, puddings and other dishes.
